Degrees and Success: Competition

The world of design is without limit. Technology offers access to endless possibilities — with the press of a button able to yield quick results and the span of a screen able to prove beauty. Virtual creation is easy and its rewards are many.

This is — of course — why so many seek it. A steady gain has been experienced within this field during the last decade: with millions flocking each year to their computers, trying to create careers. Experience is the only prerequisite (with a hands-on approach thought to be the only practical way to learn). This makes it appealing therefore to those who despise formal education. Universities aren’t deemed needed. Even an online degree is often considered too much effort.

That effort may soon prove essential, however. The amount of individuals trying to earn a web design career is staggering (with the ratio estimated to be one out of 10 within the technology field). This ensures steep competition — with many designers unable to distinguish themselves from the masses, failing to secure the necessary jobs.

And this is why a degree becomes so essential: with companies offering only a scattering of positions and millions of candidates vying to fill them, individuals must stand apart. Technical experience is no longer enough. There must instead be a promise of a genuine work ethic — and an online degree provides this. Potential employees show themselves to be dedicated, willing to obtain what isn’t standard. This will impress businesses and increase the chances of success by 60 percent.

Such a number can’t be denied — not when the field is so demanding and not when careers are so hard to achieve.

Your Essential Blog Text Design Checklist

You already know that your blog’s design is one of the most essential characteristics of your blog. If readers don’t like your design, they’ll leave without reading a word. To gain long-term readers, your blog has to be easy on the eyes, both literally and figuratively. Ready to redo your blog design? Here’s a checklist to follow to make sure you’re crafting the best design possible.

  1. Did you choose an easy-to-read font? Yes, there are a trillion really cool fonts out there. Yes, you could use one or all of them. However, your blog font is not the place to show off your personality. Web readers want to skim what you write quickly– don’t distract them with an unprofessional font. Stick with the tried-and-true Helvetica, Verdana, Ariel, etc. If you’re absolutely dying to use a creative font, use it in your blog header. Just remember that it has to be legible.
  2. Did you choose a crazy font color? No, no, no. Stick with black or a shade of light gray (white on a black background is hard on your readers’ eyes). Dark reds and blues are also acceptable. Anything neon is out of the question.
  3. Is your text obnoxiously large or ridiculously tiny? You don’t want to give your readers eyestrain, but you don’t want to insult their intelligence, either. Big fonts make you look and sound juvenile.

Still struggling with blog design? Want to learn some more advanced text formatting techniques? Plenty of universities and community colleges offer online college courses in web design.

Using the Internet to Trade Stocks

With the Internet, you can do just about anything, so it shouldn’t be surprising that you can also use it to trade stocks. Here is some information about how to do just that.

Choose a Brokerage Firm

There are a lot of brokerage firms that allow you to buy and sell stocks online. These include websites such as eTrade and Charles Schwab where you can have your own account where you can access software that allows you to invest money by buying stock. But what’s really valuable about any UFX Markets Trading is the information that they provide on these websites. This information is vital because it allows you to know what you need to invest wisely. You’re paying for the information as much as you are for the ability to trade. This means you need to pick the firm wisely because a firm that costs more may give you better quality of information.

Start Investing

Once you’ve chosen your firm and have signed up, the next step is to start investing. Take the time to research, so that you are more likely to invest wisely and receive a decent return on your investment. Every time you purchase or sell stock, the brokerage firm will get paid as well, which is why they are so willing to give you information to help you invest.

Investing in stocks is one of the best ways to grow the money you have. The more you invest, the more you’ll get back.

The Dangers of Twitter in Journalism

These days any company that is worth it’s salt has to be on Twitter. There isn’t a media or news outlet alive that doesn’t have some presence on the 140 character website. Without it you would be failing. Whether it be great resources like KISS Insights or whether it be programs like Tweet Deck, the answer is the same: get on Twitter or be left behind.

Of course being a twitter has changed the game of journalism for many news outlets. These days your need to get news out first is higher than ever before. Your twitter fans are going to click on the company that tweets the breaking news first. You have to remember that it’s not about who is reporting it these days(as much as it should be) but who is getting it out first.

What this is all causing the media outlets to do is to have to get out news that they may not be 100% confident on but they have to do it in the name being first. This has led to many outlets that have reported erroneous reports and have ended up looking like a hack journalism outlet. Companies are having to look themselves in the mirror and figure out if they can stand to lose some reads for the sake of their own credibility. It’s a tougher decision than they imagined and the decision will only get tougher.  Journalists are learning that while they need to get things out fast they need to be sure they are right

The Keys to A Great Website

Your business needs to grow and in the modern world that means you need more than just an online bachelors programs. While that is certainly helpful you also have to get in touch with the digital age as it relates to your business. The difference between you and the guy who is beating you in the bottom line is the website. In most cases the company that has the dominating web presence is going to get the better business. While you might not have the money to advertise like your competitor does, you do have the resources to design a great website and here are the keys.

The first is to make sure it is simplified. Now, that doesn’t mean dull, but it means that you want information that is easy to access. There is no way that a new customer is going to spend more than a minute or two on your site if there isn’t an easy way to access information. Many companies spend a lot of time on the look, but you need to spend twice that time on the functionality.

Your website should look current. That means it should be updated with the latest graphics and represent the rest of the web. Companies are judged as a part of the whole. If you look like you aren’t with the times there are going to be a dwindling number of people who will see you as a current competitor. Your website should be everything to you because it’s really everything to your business.
